... well THAT got your attention!
He goes to her every weekend from April through October. Nothing keeps him from her. I know he loves her. He can't explain what she means to him, but she has been there for him always. She was there for his father and his grand father and his great grandfather. I've thought about her often and I have tried to imagine what she looks like. An old board that we rescued from his father's workshop sat out alongside our shed and upon closer examination, I saw her there. I cleaned up that old board and painted how I thought she could be. She's a work in progress and not quite done ...
she has auburn hair and bright blue eyes,
she is strong and beautiful,
faithful and timeless,
she is a mermaid and all that the sea has to share ...
her tiny scales are my little finger prints
she brings him peace ...
xoxo
