let's talk about my speeding ticket .... "auto ART"

Let's talk about my speeding ticket for just one last time and then it will be done! If you remember, on an earlier post I reluctantly shared the news of my receipt of a speeding ticket. A day has not gone by that I have not thought about it. I don't set out to 'speed' when I drive and I never 'speed' with little people in the car. But put me on an open road with no one in front of me and I guess I have been know to 'pick up the pace' a little. Officer 'R' caught me 'picking up the pace a little' just over a week ago.

My answer date to this infraction is 2/15/08. I had two choices, to pay the amount due ($156), or plead not guilty. Now pleading not guilty could possibly require a court appearance. Was I traveling at 52 mph in a 35 mph zone? The speedometer read 50 mph when I spotted Officer 'R'. I work 45 hours a week, do I have time to spend a large portion of a day in court? Nope! And I just don't like unfinished business and I want to 'fix' things ... so the check to the Centralized Infractions Bureau is in the mail. It's over!

But how easily I forget! What is going to stop me from 'picking up the pace' in the future? I have created AUTO ART for me! A little visable reminder of the consequences of my speeding that hangs from my dashboard. A copy of my ticket altered with some of my favorite things ...

a quote from a friend upon hearing of my plight ...
"Speed Demon - Slow Down"

golden wings to remind me to never drive faster than my Guardian Angel can fly

two little black bats, so I will not drive like a "bat out of hell"

and tiny charms each with their own special meaning (the silver Celtic harp from my Mom's charm bracelet is my favorite, maybe she will help me slow down)

the reminder of the $156 fee really hurts and just forces my foot to the brake ...

and last but not least, a picture of me in a sleeveless lime green dress with a hat. Note the expression of surprise on my face, "No officer, I do NOT know why you stopped me!" (it's totally NOT me ~ I don't even own a sleeveless lime green dress!)

(the pictures aren't the best, but you get the idea)

No matter what happens to you, there is always someone who has it a little tougher. Just found out that Miriam hit a deer last Friday night on her way home from work. Thank God she is fine! The poor deer wasn't so lucky. Approximately $2,000 worth of damage to Miriam's vehicle.

So ... life happens and today I choose to make lemonade from my silly lemons!

xoxo this 'pic' may be a bit better for charm detail ...

This could be your ticket to wealth and fame. Think of the business you could do making "reminders" for speeders!

Hope that's a photocopy of the ticket! Otherwise, your check will be nothing more than a charitable donation and you will be wanted for Failure to Pay or Plea. Believe me when I say that CIB is anything but organzied!

Aside from that, I believe Officer R is a "boot" who has not yet mastered the art of officer discretion OR cutting someone a break by knocking the charge down a bit.

You do make good lemonade, though!! :)
